But it is still listed as active. Don't wanna be here when it blows! The landscape is referred to as "lunar-like". Hmmm, maybe this is where the government filmed the landing on the moon in 1969 (for any of you conspiracy people.) The guidebooks say that the best time to get ...

The plane is full, with a lot of children in the mix. Just beside and behind us is ...

... brings us menus to drool over. We go for the full three courses (it IS Christmas). To start: wasabi crusted octopus, and opakapaka ceviche (with coriander, chilli and lime) both outstanding, but the ceviche is just incredible. Melt in the mouth and zingy, aromatic. For mains: we share baked MahiMahi stuffed with lobster and crab and crusted with macadamias, on bed of rice with a peanut and chilli sauce, and a traditional Hawaiian luau plate. ...

... and to grab brekkie at Colleens. I eat a fruit bowl (yoghurt, granola, walnut, bananas, strawberries, blueberries) and Mark has eggs Benedict. Then we nip to the food store to stock up on booze and goodies for Xmas day. Then back to hookipa to give the smaller board a go. More success this time but still hard going. A group of locals are having a BBQ nearby - roasting a whole pig - the smell of the woodsmoke ...
