    Drove straight up to Maggie and Brian's cottage in northern Vermont. Sun shining brightly but deceptively - it was 4deg. The cottage is right on the shore of Echo Lake ( not the same one we saw yesterday - that was south). M & B come here from Montreal, takes about 2 & half hours.     ... my sun glasses and had a hissy fit! Freddie and I then walked barefoot along the road trying to hitch a lift. Unfortunately the universal thumb sign for hitch hiking had a different meeting in Vermont and everyone drove past waving at us, Freddie was not amused. Luckily Paul was jogging by and saved the day.     ... 160; Eventually she got over it and then we felt comfortable introducing her to George.  She smart, it only took her 10 seconds or so to realize he's NOT a real dog. The cat, on the other hand, had an anxiety attack, followed by attacking George with his claws - right across the muzzle.  Oh dear...
