    Lovely place to stay

Really enjoyed our 2 nights at this resort. We stayed in the budget accommodation which was fine for 2 nights. If I were to return I would upgrade to one of the nicer accommodations looking over the sea.

Secluded and relaxed, beautifully located, although slightly out-of-the-way, great if you want to get away from the masses.
Great food and service from lovely people/family-run. Rooms basic (with amenities) and fairly comfortable with gorgeous views over the bay.

We Chased Sharks! It is True!

... but the beach was lovely and we snorkelled. Melinda wouldn’t let me swim out to Shark Island, which was about 300m further out. Probably wise due to currents, but I wanted to see sharks!

So onto the next beach, which we could see from the current bay, Thian Og bay. Had a bit of dodgy dirt road and a couple of hairy downhills but we made it to the resort, which we had to walk through as usual to get to the beach. This place was flash! Big long ...

... for the next 6 weeks. We Grabbed a taxi to the next village and had breakfast. Ru had had some medicine (half his dose as he hates it) and managed to eat a big breakfast. We went to the property place but he didn't have much. Two studios next to each was the best he could offer us so we thought we'd follow up a tip from a random person I had asked. We headed to the far north side of Sairee, to some bungalows. They had some for long term rent. We managed ...

... dropped off in the middle of nowhere and it be just you. I don't know if it's good or bad that I enjoyed being by myself here. Not that I didn't have anyone to talk to, I met a few great people at the places I stayed, but I had the choice to be alone or be with people, and I liked that. One last banana Nutella pancake and then I'm off to Cambodia to see the Khmer Rouge story, that has sounded so intriguing to me from other travellers talking about it, that I felt I couldn't miss ...

    Day 73 - Auw Leuk

... whilst we waited. The pad thai was ok, but nothing special - I was looking forward to visiting the lady from the morning again, to try one there. When the taxi driver arrived, we realised that the Scottish couple never turned up. As it turned out, they had been warned about the rubbish en route and had decided against it.

After a quick shower, we inevitably ended up in reef bar for a drink or two. Eventually, conversation moved ...

    Official dives 1 and 2

A travel blog entry by tmerrien on Oct 29, 2013

... Bought a storm poncho for 60 baht, a small bottle of shampoo for 38 baht, a pot noodle and some mini sausage rolls (42 baht) for tomorrow morning (have to get up at 5am to be at the dive shop at 5.35am). Went to the restaurant and met up with some guys from the hostel and had a beer and a plate of beans, chips, bacon cheese and a fired egg again. Went to bed about 8.30pm to try to sleep for the early start the following ...
