Rough Seas; Calm "Cabin"
... of a wrench on our plans. We had to wait an hour and a half to see "if" the next train would come….otherwise we’d have to wait another 6 hours for the end of the strike at 9pm. Walking was not an option as the walk at this part really was closed (gate, lock and all)….we tried it. So we just did like the Italians and went with the flow. As it turned out, the 3pm did run and were able to get back to our home base for dinner with our friends.

Today is to be our last day on the Cinque Terre and I know that tomorrow I will be sorry to leave this quiet, magical fairytale land to head to the bigger towns and the more realistic side of Italy but I shall leave this area with fond memories and a strong desire to return again one day, perhaps on a romantic whim.

Italian in Every Way
... to make the situation a little bit more agreeable. This limone and fragola (strawberry) gelato was by far the best gelato that I have ever tasted and this is coming from someone who's eaten a lot gelato in her lifetime! With each mouthful of creamy, fruity ice cream there was an explosion of flavour that just made you want it last forever but sadly of course the bottom of the little tub arrived far too soon and no matter how much spoon scraping was done ...
