Headed off at 0900 into the park for the day, our hotel was two minutes walk from the park entrance. It is a stunning area of national park with 16 lakes surrounded by thick pine forests. The water flows over limestone to form natural dams which has created numerous waterfalls. A beautiful unspoilt area of nature. We walked to the bottom level where the largest fall is then made our way along boardwalks to the middle section where we caught a boat across to the ...

Sorry it's a long one!! As of October 11th we officially started our workstay at the Linden Tree Ranch outside Gospic. The ranch lies just outside the Velebit National Park. In contrast to the rocky greenery of the coast, the Velebit is hilly verging on mountainous terrain with beautiful deciduous trees in full fall colours. We climbed all the way to the top lake and had some biscuits(this is where my new blog picture came from) and took a bus that transports people from one end of the park to the other. We then walked around the bottom lakes and caught a cute ferry across to our starting point. The air was so fresh and the water clear with lots of huge fish. This place was amazing and beautiful.

... left over pizza from the night before. Pizza? For breakfast? What a brilliant idea. Especially when it is 5am and you are sleep deprived.

After 2 hours of waiting we boarded and headed out on the plane where Rush excitedly tried to get me to see the islands forgetting that I was in the middle seat and could see the wing. And the sky. Not, islands. He then proceeded to push my head down to see the islands, accomplishing me looking at the sky and Rusher looking like ...

... to the 5th lake which took us hours and there are 11 or so in total!! Each lake and falls were more exciting than the previous. Just never ending water everywhere and all sort of caves to go in along the route too. A boat bought us through one of the larger lakes on the way back and it was beautiful, so calm and untouched. As you can probably tell, we loved this place. Ten outa ten on the visit list. But time to move on to the next location... ...
