... as I walked in the receptionist was lighting a cigarette in the foyer, I said 'I need to speak with you', she hurriedly put out her dirty fag and ran in after me. 'I need a new room' you could tell by the look on her face she knew exactly why. ... the water covered the ground so deep in places that the trees looked as though they were growing out of a giant lake, and the water swooshed as we drove through it. There was so much flooding, I even joked about swimming back. All up, there are 16 lakes in the park. Sorry it's a long one!! As of October 11th we officially started our workstay at the Linden Tree Ranch outside Gospic. The ranch lies just outside the Velebit National Park. In contrast to the rocky greenery of the coast, the Velebit is hilly verging on mountainous terrain with beautiful deciduous trees in full fall colours. The ranch is bordered by a creek on two sides and lays in a valley protected from the wind. Our arrival at the Gospic bus station was as cryptic ...
