      ... things, seeing them firsthand provides a new perspective. Because the streets are so narrow and the stairways inside the houses are very steep as well as narrow, every house along the canals has a "hook" at the roof line so furniture and other large items can be hoisted up a pulley system and in through a window. An interesting feature of the roads in Amsterdam is that the electric trains run right down the centre of the roadways with no barriers whatsoever. So ...

      ... having the bulk of the car to the right, not left. You really have to think about where you should be on the road, but it's easy if there's other traffic around. But otherwise it was a fun experience, and hopefully I can do it more! When I got back, I played some more with the three kiddos, had dinner, and then packed my bag for camping this weekend, and read my book. Was nice to have a day to chill and just relax.       We had a 5:45 am wake up call today which is waaay tooo early. We caught the early ferry from Seattle to Victoria and had a choppy crossing. Luckily they sell 2 motion sickness pills for 25 cents. Jeff was fine but even with the pills, I was a bit queasy. In the middle of the crossing I was looking for the equivalent of the air sickness bags that airlines have. ...
