... a lovely day we decided to book in for another night . After the days of 5:30am wake up calls , night drives and late dinners, it was so nice to just have a few days to relax. We were in no hurry to get to Joburg anyway, given the horror stories we've heard about the crime there. I've caught up to the 6th of September, when we complete the driving portion, return our Toyota to Joburg, and head to the lodge where we will begin our AeroSafari.
Dullstroom, Mpumalanga, South Africa mamatrossFollowing a great nights sleep and a very early 6.30am start and breakfast, we met Charel and Sydney our tour guides and our beloved tour bus. After a swift breakfast and tour briefing, we departed on our first day of the trip towards Mpumalanga, Pilgrims Rest and Bourke's Luck Pot holes. we had our first sighting of wildlife in ...
Mpumalanga, South Africa clarefun22Anita, the parents and I have started travelling from Pretoria around 8 in the morning. We used the Hyandai Atos. I did not trust that my car will get us that far. It need a service. Apart from that it was full of stuff and I did nit have the time to offload at home. We planned to have lunch in Dullstroom ...
Dullstroom, Mpumalanga, South Africa joekemp... below the falls then circling around to give two passes over the falls before heading upstream above the national park where we were able to see elephants crossing the river. Our flight was at lunchtime and we didn't have long to wait before being whisked off to the airport. Oddly, CC bumped into one of his old bosses in the departure lounge. She had been staying with friends in the posher part of the complex, the Royal Livingstone, and was heading back to ...
Waterval Boven, Mpumalanga, South Africa avengerpenguinsWe are leaving today around 6:20 PM our time. We will be home by tomorrow afternoon. It's been a long journey and we are all pretty exhausted and ready to come home. I wanted to post some video clips, but I think I will do it when we get home, just to show you the children in the school and the lions at night. Thanks for visiting the site. Rebecca
Pretoria, South Africa rebedin06Hello Family and Friends! We are now in Pretoria. I must say, this has been a very extreme week. I really don't believe that one could travel to Coffee Bay and not be changed. Although extremely breathtaking, with it's steep cliffs and rolling mountains, hugging the Indian ocean, Coffee Bay is poverty stricken. There is very little employment--almost none. The death rate from Aids is 50%. TB is also a very big problem because they cannot afford the testing or the ...
Pretoria, South Africa rebedin06... t noticed us in the car yet. Kelly and I waited under our sleeping bags for what seemed like an hour. This wasn't helped any by the fact that I had to **** like crazy. Finally, the guy took a few steps away from the car. So I popped up, turned on the ignition and drove Snowflake out of there at a break neck speed. That guy must have wondered what the hell was going on. Either way.. we actually slept pretty well, and we got a free night's "lodging". Chalk one up for Team Cropp.
Blyde Canyon, South Africa natecropp... as was a feeble attempt to get a group discount if we all booked together. Maybe I just like an easy life, but I'd heard good things about this tour and had decided to go with the hostel the next morning whatever and screw the fuss of trying to work out if there were better alternatives. The Dutch couple also decided that they were going to try for a room in another place just up the road which is exactly what they did, although that was not the last I would see of ...
Nelspruit, South Africa misterbenOur time at the private game lodge was great. It was total luxury (except for the food - It was too fancy for us- especially Aaron. Vegetable quiche doesn't cut it for a 14 year old). The pool was great. It was still really hot and it was great to get cooled off in the pool. We had 2 game rides. One in the late afternoon and one on Friday AM. In ...
Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa lori_aaron_trip3:30 wake up call. We have a morning drive at 4AM. We saw lions, buffalo and got chased by an elephant. Our pictures are coming out great but it's so slow to upload, I'm going to do it later. You'll really be impressed with Aaron's pictures. He's a great photographer. We are very tired at this point. We are going to bed early and getting up early. There's nothing to do at night anyway. More to follow!!! Love, Lori and Aaron
