... ate in the canteen with the other teachers amongst whom today there was a chatty lady who wanted to know all about us, or at least all about the men. Russell tried to explain to her about Malta and ended up showing her on the internet on his phone where Malta was. She didn’t seem much the wiser and returning to sit with the other teachers announced to them that his name was Malta. It’s not just the children that we have difficulty getting through to!

... than two weeks to go to Christmas the restaurants and hotels have started to put up some trees and lights but there are still many fewer visitors here than you would have expected. We came to a bit of dilemma. I have a friend that lives in Phuket (near the gibbon rehabilitation centre, where she worked at for 6 months)and can welcome us anytime but preferably from the 5th onwards because she is on holidays then.
