On the road to Armidale we stopped off at Glen Innes (the Celtic country) and visited the standing stones, they are a circle of 24 stones representing 24hours of the day, and are the official national monument to Australia's Celtic pioneers.

Captain Thunderbolt
... spot the coaches coming on the road. We climbed the rock and stood looking for a coach but nay, there were only semi's and vans and modern cars.
From here we went back to Uralla and to the cemetery to see Captain Thunderbolts grave. There is some controversy as to who is actually buried in this grave ..or whether anyone is buried there at all. I say ...
There's Gold In Them thar' Hills
We are now at Uralla at a campsite called Fossicking Camp where you can try your luck and pan for gold. Uralla is know for its early days gold rushes, and also as the burial place of 'Thunderbolt' the bushranger. This is a wonderful place and well worth the visit. We have been here for 3 days now and will probably move on tomorrow or Monday. The camp is next to the creek and has toilets and running water. There is always a tree or 2 felled so there is always plenty of wood for the fire.

Nice run but cold morning
At 6am we left Gunning. Strange night last night as the van was so nose up we were almost sliding off the bed. Still it was free, I did not have to unhitch, we were safe and sound so what more could you want?
I was awake at 2am, could not sleep. Finally at 4.30am I got up put on the Webasto Diesel Heater, thinking how smart Allan was to fill it up only a few days before. So the van was toasty for our morning showers.
