We left Black Lake today and headed toward Vermont. We didn't make it.
We did, however, drive through the Adirondacks and somehow managed to drive into the bike portion of an Ironman race. No, I mean we drove into it! Imagine how those guys on bikes felt after swimming for 2.4 miles, then trying to ride their bikes for 112 miles, only ...

We finished the short mile hike with minutes to spare before it became dark. To ...

The kitchen porch had an icebox, filled two or three times a week with ice which had been cut out of the lake in the winter and stored in sawdust in the Icehouse for the summer. No hot water, you heated what you needed on the stove- baths were taken in the lake. No telephone, ...

We had our story straight, had a travel destination and had all required passports at the ready. We were two Australian residents, driving a car purchased and insured in British Columbia heading into New York State to visit for less than 90 days.
