Then came The Blackwater Trail.
All the potential of 9 miles of rail grade riding above the Blackwater River. We soon found the extent and reach of Superstorm Sandy. Trees and their attendant huge trunks covering the trail. A few volunteers were there with chainsaws and they warned us that the trail had not been cleared. Our egos would not allow us to turn back. How would we get around these mountains if we couldn't use the trail? We trudged on.
We found this amazing guy today, Thad, in a bike shop in Phillipi, WV. I had been riding with no front brakes, which I have done for most of America. My lower gears were not working either. We woke up this morning at the motel and searched the internet on how to repair my bike.
