... than two hurricanes were forecast to hit the islands within hours of each other. The hatches were battened down, tins of food were purchased and if the water got through the sand bags then at least all my possessions were off the floor. I awaited my Dorothy moment but lucky for us the hurricanes Iselle and Julio went off to argue in another part of the Pacific.
Cramming in my sight-seeing I went to the glorious beach in State Park Makena and treated myself to the ...
... but the second one to last was scary because we had to go higher than what we were(we were about 10 feet up) then we went down a it was amazing then we were done we went to cool cat again still good well tomorrow I'm going deep sea fish so aloha Rain rain go away or don't ....we awoke this morning to a lot of wet stuff. Sitting on our balcony as is our custom now we watched the rain alternate with sun and the resulting morning rainbows were our wake up ...
... crusted fish and veg it was really great. We ordered Run Rig 2002 it was truly incredible my 100pt wine and Wine Spectator rates it at 99...so yummy. We were going to walk but it started to rain so we took a cab. I have to say this Cafe is an amazing 5 star restaurant not a cafe...a great place.
So home early corn free and happy.

We toured the town, which still has 8 patients living here (all over 80), and seems set up to revert to the National Parks Service after the remaining patients pass away. We ended the evening sitting poolside listening to live Hawaiian music and watching a Hula performance. A perfect ending to a perfect day..
