... and didn't realize how late it was until I asked the bartender for the time. He said 3:58pm. I said "Oh ****!" Melissa should have been getting ready for the Luau at 3pm and we are in the pool, in a cave bar. So the rush starts here! After 23.25 hours of travel from D.C. (or 34 if the clock starts when we left Batesville), we arrived safe and sound in Kihei, a beach town on Maui's southwest coast. Our waiter advised us that one portion would be enough for 2 so that’s what we did, and it was, though we did have a portion of chips to go with it! Very healthy!!

We reclaimed our bags from the Hall Porter, changed and at ...

... Interestingly, these are the tallest sea cliffs in the world, at over 3,300 feet in height, and they are majestic! There is one place (where we will be in a month) in New Zealand, called Milford sound, where Mitre Peak rises over 5,000 feet from the sea level to its peak, but it is defined as a mountain, instead of a sea cliff (for some reason). In any event, the hike is spectacular, and the peninsula itself is beautifully ...
