Dolphins and Sloths on the Caribbean coast

... really cool. We then got soaked (by the rain and the spray from the boat) on the way to the restaurant on the water... meals were extortionate but Al and I had brought bread and ham, which wasnt too wet, so we had that! I got Al a beer, which was 1.50 dollars for a small can, I gave him 2 and he took it and shrugged and said "I dont have change, sorry..." - anyway, I got it back later when I got another one and said, "I only have a dollar!" - I did ...

Bed Bugs in Paradise

... were above the age of 50 and the ladies had a thing or two to teach us about dancing - tip of the day, apparently "dance like you make love!!"

On day 6, following a great stay, we headed off for the night bus to Panama City leaving behind some real characters.... Donna the soccer mom waxer, the 52 year old dancer, the argentinian steak man, the growler, Bob Marley the II, Jorge the surfer and many more.

It´s ladies night every night in Bocas...

... guitars and a bar, what more could you want?

If we´ve learned one thing about Bocas thus far it´s that there is Ladies Night every night at rotating bars around the island. What does this mean? It simply means that ladies drink for free! And we just had to try it out...just once, we promise. How did it end you may ask? Well, let´s just say Carter and I ended up in the ¨swimming pool¨aka ocean, with all of our clothes on ...

Saturday night in no man's land!

... have met one of the few on the level, ethical border officials in all of Latin America, because instead of soliciting a bribe of some description from us he simply hopped on his bicycle with his umbrella, our plaintive pleading falling on deaf ears, and rode off into the country into which we could not pass. The *******.

So we trooped back across the bridge only to find, surprise ...

Ahhh... The Island Life of Bocas del Toro

... is very similar to south Florida so its a good cheap option for people who like the water and boats. At the Cosmic Crab we also met our new friend Tigger. Tigger is a little tigrillo that Joan and Steve haved raised since he was a kitten. Steve even took him out of his pen for me and I got to pet him. It was amazing! Too bad we didnt bring the camera that day.

Puerto Viejo, Costa Rica ... Day 7

... sunset photos and then Ed joined us and we all shared a cold beer, took a "salute" photo and the MOSQUITOS WERE OUT, the humid wet air brought the entire population right where we stood. Despite the language barrier, I enjoyed trying to converse with Jose, I tried and he did as well but the experience was more important than learning a phrase or two. Thank goodness for CNN, Ed enjoyed watching the news and trying to find ...

Easter at Bocas del Toro

... while drinking fantastic rum punches. Once the sun went down and the bugs came out that was our sign to move in to the covered patio for Easter dinner. Above dinner table were lanterns where geckos were snagging dinner that was attracted to the lights. The most expensive thing on the dinner menu was the special steak and lobster for $17. I ordered a fantastic pork tenderloin - for 13 cocktails and dinner the bill was only $106 including tip. Just before ...

Paradise Found

... were knee deep in mud and then I slipped on a piece of wood and went flying. I kicked some wood and now my foot hurts... only bruised but I´m feeling sorry for myself all the same. The beach was beautiful, though not so good for swimming as I got stuck in my first riptide... Fortunately I was only about waist deep in water and so managed to wade out of it but it was hard work. With a heavy heart I left Bocas and headed south to Panama´s second city called David. It´s a ...

Bocas Del Toro, very unfortunate events.

... about heading to Corcavado together but our plans changed and Kevin and I ended up going South. We said our goodbyes and Joey stayed in Peurto Jimemez and did the three day trip to Corcavado National Park, with a few other people. When we later talked to Joey he told how amazing Corcavado had been. He spoke of the animals he saw, saying it was like a zoo inside the park. He mentioned how liberating it was doing the seven mile hike into the rain forest, crossing ...
