hangs from sometimes. It feels cool when he wraps it around your hand
or arm. The cutesst thing was the time that he climbed into the hood of
my rain racket! I was all like, Äwww Rocky, you´re so cute!¨

Overall, I was really impressed by the concept and the execution of the
lodge. Mostly, I was stoked that I only paid $24 for 3 nights! Friggin'
awesome!! I have several pictures. I hope I can ever get them off my
camera and onto FB! The ...

evening news last night and will likely repeat it tonight. Although we
didn´t save any eggs, the publicity that our excursion brought to the
issue is equally helpful. I´ve learned that the officials here are not
quick to believe stories of poaching. Our photos and story provide
hard evidence, which I am hopeful will improve the response. Even
though it was a small step, it was still a step, and I´m glad I got to
be a part of it.

... was refreshing (as was the boxed sangria!) We made our way back up just before the afternoon rain started and headed back to the hostel. Thankfully Carter was feeling much better when we got home! We all made dinner at the hostel and hit La Cabana for a pretty serious dance session!

Woke up today to the SUN, rallied the troops and went to brunch. The food was amazingg! I had the best huevos rancheros I've ever had and ...

... almost the same name as well) right down to the busy eyebrows, wizened face and shock of thick white hair. So weird. We drank some of his delicious coffee whilst he explained the above about his farming ways. He also has a little sideline in fruit wines which we tasted over a delicious lunch of smoked pork in wine, rice and beans and plantain (all included in the tour price of $18 and a bag of coffee or bottle of wine thrown in!). He himself admits that he is crazy ...

... house, one that is powered primarily by solar energy, but, here’s the big but, we had NO idea that we would be renting a house that would lose power nightly at 8:00pm. Had we, fine. But when you get your expectations set and then they’re not as you thought some times as much as the seclusion and beauty is wonderful, you’re left a little disappointed.

We made our way to Bocas Town, where the airport is on Isla Colon. We tried ...

The border crossing from Costa Rica to Panama was another crazy one, it's right up there with Nepal. The bus stopped just before the border and kick every one off. We were the only tourist so followed the crowed into a small hut where we got our exit stamp, then we had to walk a hundred meters across a dilapidate railway bridge where you had to step aside if any Lorry's came past. The immigration on the Panama side was an other hut, served by two little men who stamp your passport ...

Volunteering time

... day. I was a little achy the next day, my arms more than anything else from leaning on my stick! I'm now back staying in Boquete and have begun my volunteering at Paradise Gardens. This mainly involves giving tours and information to the various visitors and playing with Tina, the baby anteater (!!!) and a few of the other residents. It's pretty cool. Anyway that brings us up to date. Keep in touch people! I miss you all!

... Callitsa loves Monika's tomatos. Callista never likes tomatos. So Monika brings out another plate of them for Callista to eat. Then she explains that she had a guest send her 7 tomato seeds from Germany. Seeds from a line of tomatos that are no longer grown anywhere they know of. So, true to form, Callista is a connesiuer of tomatos only grown in a garden in Germany, and a garden in Panama. High maintenance girl here. You future boyfriends ...

... anywhere. Finally, a girl working at one of the hotels said she knew of a private house where we could stay. The room would cost $35 and all 5 of us could fit. We asked if we could walk and the owner of the house said no, because it was far, but we didn't realize just how far it would be. The locals say something is far away if it isn't within 4 blocks. We got in a taxi and rode for 20 minutes, out into the middle of nowhere. The room wasn't horrible, but just a few sagging beds in ...

... lot amongst you can imagine how I felt for all of 2 seconds. The next stop before we left Ometepe (a sad day for the three of us as we all loved it very much!!) was Charco Verde, a little beach resort town with gorgeous views of the mainland across the lake and plenty of time to relax and get over our near miss with the zombi...monkeys. Actually, I say near miss, but I forgot to mention that when we were staying at Merida Mary actually got bitten by a monkey (on her ...
