Barrio Arriba Samaipata, Bolivia, 3636, 591-3-944-6082
... a little difficult for us cyclists because Bolivian drivers do not see us as valid road users. Vehicles overtaking in the opposite direction simply flash their lights and beep their horn to warn you they are coming through, GET OUT OF THE WAY! Several times they would have seen 2 very angry faces screaming obscenities and making rude gestures coming the other way. Probably did absolutely nothing for Bolivian-Gringo relations but boy, it ...
Samaipata, Bolivia 50odd... up the road stops, hands us a map and the HI hostel broucher (how convenient as we were heading there anyway). She arranges us a taxi, and the price!! It was that easy, we have a nice clean & friendly place to stay with a pool! I couldnt wait to jump in as it is so hot here, but then I realise that I had left my visa card in and ATM in Bolivia and had to spend the next hour calling banks and hotlines. Grr idiot!!

.
Samaipata, Bolivia tlgaustralia... We think) she asks how much money we want to put in so we ask her for B$15 (less then $3) but it only takes $5 haha, about AUID$1.50,

We ride for about half an hour to the waterfalls at Cuevas. There are 3 waterfalls that run through the small valley of pink sand. It was very pretty and very quiet too, we only saw 4 other people there.

We decide we want to move to the ´´La Posada Del Sol´´ to ...
Samaipata, Bolivia tlgaustralia... bus to Sucre at about 8 o'clock in the evening, which was the greatest endurance test we have been through yet – a 12 hour journey through the mountains, on dirt “roads”, going through rivers, in the freezing old with no toilet stops! Never again.

Anyway.......then we arrived in Sucre which was much better.

Love to everybody at home, missing you as always

love love love xxxx

Samaipata, Bolivia gordon13... or just not taking the drugs anymore. We decided to take a short one and a half hour flight from La Paz to Santa Cruz, rather than endure a twenty hour bus ride. Santa Cruz was brimming with anticipation over the referendum to be held on August 9. A quick update on Bolivian politics might be useful....Evo Morales is the first indigenous president of Bolivia. The primarily indigenous population in the highlands love him as he has introduced a new constitution and is ...
Samaipata, Bolivia bilinga... to walk the whole site and did really enjoy it. When I had finished my trek around the site, I was on the way down the hill and an Israli trekker asked if I would like to share a cab back to the village. Well, I jumped at the chance, and was soon back in the restaurant, drinking a beer and eating a little dinner. The next day, I arose early, found a collective back to Sta. Cruz, and was back in town before afternoon.
Samaipata, Bolivia liesbetd... caved out of stone on top of a near by mountain, and although it was very nice, very little is know about the site and very little has been excavated. Part of it looks as if it could have been a UFO landing site! As it was only 9km from town we walked back to town enjoying the mountain views. Samipata is a small town on the edge of the national park Amboro. The park is at the correct elevation that it is situated in the clouds the majority ...
Samaipata, Bolivia calvin.latha... back to town. The following day we spent at El Fuerte, pre-Inca ruins lying just outside the town. After watching a mildly informative video at the museum, we took a taxi to the site, which ws situated on a hill about 15mins drive away. Once again the weather was our friend and we were able to enjoy clear views and sushine while we walked around the site. After a picnic lunch at the summit we descended the hill by foot, imagining a ...
