... swim but the sea was freezing so he didn't stay in long! We also had a sangria demonstration ;). Thursday was a quiet day and Friday morning we went for a horse ride at a surprisingly nice place. Mike even rode in an English saddle like a champ! Saturday we toured around more of the island and Sunday we returned El Ray (sadly!) and hopped on a bus bound for Santa Cruz along with all the dressed up kids headed that way for Carnaval! Now we are in Santa Cruz for a few days until we ...

... The islands are getting ready for Carnaval which starts this weekend. We found the main shopping mall areas with many shops and restaurants, and yes, weird people! The streets are narrow and colorful and any open area had sidewalk tables for coffee and sweets. The lava flows make for a barren landscape but areas of sediment and extinct craters make for a dramatic lunar like landscape. The snow on the mountains and at the side of the road add to the impact. We drive onto the cable car which we take to the highest point (xxxx ft) just a 150m below ...

La Laguna, Santa Cruz, San Juan de la Rambla

... in a locals bar then take the tram down to Santa Cruz. Santa Cruz has a different feel in the sunshine and it's a pleasant walk along the by the docks before taking the return tram back up to La Laguna. We drive back yet again along the same stretch of road, the fourth time! Decide to stop at San Juan de la Rambla which proves to be a little gem in comparison with La Guancha. Two good bars where it is fun to watch the football amongst the locals. Back home for DVD and ...
