... vast expanse of trees but we did take a few photo's to show how high we were. We continued our drive through several more towns with rocky beaches and small harbours before we eventually arrived at a place called Massa Carrara that got its name from having 2 towns in one, Massa and Carrara. We got some parking and walked about 1/2 km back down the road we came to gain access to the beach through what appeared to be one of several areas dedicated to different hotels but we really are ...
... Gio for our last CT Aperol spritzs before dinner. We had 2 rounds (with snacks - they always give you really good complimentary snacks with your drinks in Italy). Feeling quite relaxed, we returned to the apartment and made our dinner of fresh trofie pasta with red pesto and salad. It was really wonderful to eat in again!
We were sad it was our last night in Monterosso but we were tired and tomorrow we had to be up early to catch our 9am train to Lucca.
... the tower, the church inside is one of the most beautiful I have seen anywhere so I did take a lot of shots!
As predicted, our tiny group of 5 finished our tour way ahead of the larger double-language group, so I was free to go off on my own to explore the town. To judge my remaining time better, I ate lunch first at the closest restaurant that looked promising so I would not waste my tour looking for something to eat! Even though I am fairly tired of pizza ...
... but I missed my Siesta Key sugar sand! Their "sand" is mainly rocks so it was a bit painful, but it was so worth it to get my tan line back and relax a little! After spending some time on the beach, we took the train back to where our buses were waiting for us, and then we came back to Florence! It was such a fun day trip and I'm so glad I got to go! It was nice to explore different parts of Italy, but next weekend in Croatia is going to be amazing, too!

Didnt get much sleep as my inflatable jandle finally bit the dust and went down.
Got up the next morning to work out some accom in Rome and went for a lovely swim before packing up and heading back to the train station, where we waited for a few hours for the train.
Luckily the train wasnt quite so hot, so 3 hours later we reluctantly arrived back in Rome.
