Happy to Be Back at Dream Village Again!

We spent over a week at Dream Village in May 2013, when we first visited and fell in love with the Gilli Islands. Our experience was entirely positive, so we did not hesitate to book again at Dream Village when our plans to return to Gilli Trawangan materialized in 2014. In fact, we were very much looking forward to seeing Angelo and Fabrizio, the owners, and their wonderfully efficient and very friendly staff. We were greeted as friends when we returned, and when we departed four days later, we left feeling more like we were leaving friends than simply a hotel. We requested and were lucky to have the same room we had preferred in the past - Room 111 on the second floor, although there are a number of bungalows in the lovely garden that are also quite satisfactory if that is your preference. The rooms were cleaned daily and meticulously as part of their regular service, and breakfast was always a pleasant, laid back experience to enjoy either in the beachfront restaurant, or while lounging in one of the gazebos for the entire morning, if you wished, as no one would ever suggest you move on. But if you did want to move just a few yards, you could grab one of the Dream Village beach chairs and take in the sun and snorkelling right in front of your guest house. This is island life on the Gillies, and Dream Village is a great spot from which to take it all in. We plan to return again next year, and Dream Village will be our home away from home once more if we do.

    Warm, Welcoming, Delightful Stay

It is difficult to determine what we liked the most about Dream Village. Certainly the location was excellent, being located a few steps away from the ocean, with beach front access. The rooms and huts - we stayed in both - were very spacious and meticulously clean, and equipped with ample storage space and in room safes. The staff was extremely friendly and efficient, always smiling, welcoming, and willing to accommodate our needs. We stayed for eight days, and every day our room was completely cleaned, including floor washing, without us ever having had to request this service. The garden area was also very well kept and provided a lovely tropical setting to enjoy from the balcony, which all rooms had. If there was any suggestion for improvement, it would be that the breakfast included with the room have a bit more variety. Otherwise, all was excellent.

We would definitely stay at Dream Village again.

Returning to Paradise on the Gilli Islands, Lombok

We fell in love with the Gilli Islands when we were first introduced to the largest of the three islands, Gilli Trawangan, last year, in May 2013, so it was always in our plans to return to the islands in our 2014 Adventure. This time, however, we decided to acquaint ourselves with another of the islands, Gilli Air. It is the second largest of the …

Eventually we headed back to the main pavilion - party central - and we sang our song to Phil and Rosie sang a couple of songs, all while Phil sat front and centre on his throne.

Our morning walk along the front to Gili Golf was cut short when Dave became distracted by some mountain bikes with big, chunky wheels. So we postponed the golf and went for a ride. The oversized wheels made the bikes feel heavy as we rumbled along the dirt paths, but were quite effective at staying on top of the sand.

We poked our heads out of the boat and sucked in the fresh air. It was still hot but at least it was clean. We were at the most beautiful beach. Small local boats were moored up along the whitest sand. The water was completely transparent. We jumped off and our bags were ...

... boat we were sure would sink with every source of food aboard and about 30 people huddled in with their bags the 45 minute journey was uncomfortable to say the least. The hellish journey was so worth it, our accommodation was lovely and the island chilled. A taste of the local delicacy in the market, we met Kate, a fun evening listening to live music in the reggae bar and then moving on to the good old Irish bar.
