After organising ourselves we drove up to the more rugged Cape Cod National Seashore which is a beautiful 26 mile drive. The entire area has not succumbed to over development and so it has retained a lazy, sandy and rugged charm....I can see why JFK loved the area.

We were excited to go to the Beachcomber Hotel for some fresh Wellfleet oysters and the famous raw bar. Unfortunately as we entered the car park we were greeted with a huge ...

... and loved sliding the shower doors back and forth, selling donuts to us as if from a window in the donut shop. After kiddie bedtime, we decided to strike out and see if the mini-golf place down the street was open. Sadly, it was not. Summer is officially over, so it's only open weekends and then only 12-7pm. Oh well! We went and got ice cream instead - from a window! "Moose Tracks" flavor for me (an East Coast thing?).

... watched a perfect cloudless sunset and then the huge super moon rising up behind us bringing in the mosquitoes with it that attacked non stop and making the 20 minute wait for the bus back seem to last forever. Avoiding the mermaid drag queens show that was parading around in her electric mobility scooter trying to get people ...

... been fantastic to be a part of such a pairing of two greats. And, we missed Kristen Chenowith, who would have been fun to see as well.

After our time in Provincetown, we headed to a nice beach on a bluff in Truro and had our lunch over looking the Bay. It was a great day!

We also took advantage of some outdoor concerts which were nice - one I can only describe as "Quirky"...and I am being kind. You will see the pictures and make your own judgement.

Other than Nauset Beach, we also went to Nauset Light and Marconi Beach. Marconi is the gentleman who sent the first transatlantic message back in the early 1900's from the dunes of the beach named for him.

Enjoy this first installment of Cape Cod.
