We had a small lie in this morning as we had to be on the road by 8:30. We set off and had one petrol stop before we reached Lava Hot Springs which was a pretty cool place. It's made up of 3 small pools that are naturally headed from the water underground. The hottest pool was around 112 degrees and the coolest one was around 102 so it was very hot. By the time we got there the sun had just started to come out as well. We had roughly 45 minutes in the pool but I think it was a bit longer ...

Today's drive took us from Burns, OR to Wells, NV. All I can say is that driving through landscapes like this gives one an appreciation of how vast and desolate this part of the country is. Actually I've never seen this country in the Spring, it's actually green and quite pretty in places. I'm happy to report that the Mini ran flawlessly today. We're averaging about 35 mpg as far as I can tell (in Oregon ...

... It must have seemed a frightening barrier for settlers wanting to travel west.

The campground in Wells is old and predates the large RV units of today. The sites are lined with mature trees and not all are trimmed to the height of newer units. However, there doesn't appear to be a lot of choice in this area at this time of year, so, with ...

        Jeriann's Car Trip Thoughts

... on the iPod. So far so good!

Twice Brady pitched a fit and delayed us. On our third morning he refused to get into his carseat because he wanted to play another round of mini golf that was included in our RV park. Yesterday he wanted to have lunch at McDonalds in Jackson Hole, Wyoming and the GPS said the nearest McDonalds was 50 miles away. Turns out there really was one that ...

... We decided to double back and check it out. We find a simple looking RV park with lots of grass. There is a sign that says no public restrooms. We don’t see any tents. We wandering around and Jeriann found a nice old man. He is the owner. Sure we can camp for the night. Just $15. They have great clean restrooms and showers. We pitch out tent in a big grass field.
        8) Later we join the campfire and hang out with the “locals” ...
