... and fruit vendors in a small path on the pier. We got onto the Marina Srikandi ferry (apparently we weren't going with Gili Cat, who we'd booked with!!) which stunk of gasoline, forced inside where it was hot and stuffy, and we started out. It didn't take long before the weaker stomachs started to go. But after about 1.5 hours, we pushed up onto the beach and we offloaded into the water. ... of violence which coincided a little with the pounding of the fast boat thru the waves. Before long we arrived at Gili island and the launch was driven up onto the sand. The passengers alighting had to exit at the rear and walk along the 6 inch wide ledge, passed the windows to the bow, where they climbed down a small ladder to the sand. The luggage was in the bow section and was passed up thru a hatch to be offloaded to shore. The younger kids waited until the luggage had ...

... Ness. Obviously there’s no guarantee you will see a turtle so I was delighted to spot three! And they were much bigger than I was expecting. I thought they would be the size of my hand not the size of my torso!

After a few days we left Trawangan and moved to Gili Air. We nearly stopped at Meno but it’s known as the honeymoon island and looked absolutely dead when our ...
