    ... It had its pluses and minuses. It was nice to be able to see some live music and see some real nightlife. And the beaches are nice. The snorkeling was so-so, mostly because there are so many people around. And it's not the high season yet!     The night before we left Bukit Lawang, the rain started. It rained for 12 hours.  Visions of our hillside bungalows washing into the river plagued me to the point where sleep was impossible.  Strangely, when we needed to hike to our ride the next morning, the rain stopped (a blessing because we are not really prepared for wetness and we are carrying our electronics).
