In the meantime, the island life has sucked us in. We've been here about 8-9 nights now. Who knows? The weather is amazing. It hasn't rained since we left Bali, where it was still raining everyday. Deanne's doing more yoga and we're doing our fair share of reading, beach lounging, and drinking some foofy drinks on the beach.

Well if your going to be sick you may as well have a pool out your front door. I had come down with a mild sore throat the last couple of days in Yogya and it only got worse as we moved on to Bali. We enjoyed a picnic in East Lombok where Mount Rinjani towered behind us and the ocean gave us views of Flores. We then embarked on the final leg of our journey to Senaru on an even bumpier, windier and escalating road through a harsher, drier, leaner environment to ...

... you have to go through hell first to reach it...
Annabel accompanied me to Lombok island the day before my trek began to see the area and try to steal a glimpse of Rinjani. We arrived at our Rinjani Beach Eco Lodge with most of the afternoon still to spare... on THE most unspoilt non-touristy beach we have visited so far. It really was sublime to just lie on our sunbeds and be the only two foreigners for several hours before more guests arrived. There were ...
