          ... summer crowds and carry on down through Argentina. Even the offer of a new van in Santiago wasn't enough to sway us. The lure of seeing Aconcagua, the highest mountain in The Americas did mean that we set off in that direction but with cloud encroaching the mountain tops, we turned round before reaching the summit of the pass. We did at least get a brief glimpse of Aconcagua from the outskirts of Mendoza.

          ... do this twice in the same day. Threads in discussion boards suggest that this is so Argentinian banks can get double the commission.
          We drove up to Castillos de Pincheira about 30 miles out of town. This is a gorge along Rio Malargue with unusual rock formations. There was a place that you could picnic, barbeque or swim at but we had not come prepared.

          Was about 1.5 hours to Las Lenas, a scenic route after we got off the highway and a promising start weather-wise, with a nice sunrise and blue skies above the cloud hugging some snowy peaks. Unfortunately it never lifted in Las Lenas and there was an icy breeze too.

          ... abgebaut wird. Als Belohnung für den Umweg erblickte er an der Laguna Nueva Flamingos! Somit entschieden wir, an der Lagune eine Nacht zu verbringen, um die unerwartete Überraschung zu geniessen. Nach weiteren 850km und einem schönen Ruhetag am Rio Negro inkl. Birchermüesli ;), erblickten wir in der Abenddämmerung das weite Meer und Puerto Madryn. Endlich mal wieder viiiiel Wasser!

          ... to the supermarket after lunch but the locals had different ideas so we burnt time sleeping in the local park waiting for everything to reopen. The main highlight of this day was the culinary delight that is a Lomito Completo. I ordered this not having an idea what it was but it was the find of the century.
