Zion National Park and Mesa Verde National Park

... come to the national park and spend a couple of hours on their way to somewhere else. I can't say that our visit was much different, although our day started with birding in an oak forest, the bluebirds are always fun to gauwk at. We took the guided tour at the park and wandered through the ancient dwellings or religious spaces, food storage areas and so on. It feels a bit weird to know you are walking where someone ...

The sites in Ayn Rands epic novel Atlas Shrugged

Yesterday was a huge day in Mesa Verde National Park. We staggered into Durango, Colorado for much needed rest. Mum has not been feeling well today, some sinus thing that she got on the flight over no doubt. This town inspired Ayn Rand to include it in her epic novel Atlas Shrugged. It is a very ...

We Nailed It!

... br>There, Joe. There's your mention :)

Oh, Joe. I miss you and love you too! Now turn that frown upside down! :)

Before I go, I wanted to share some more great news. My boyfriend's grandparents are coming to Chino Valley on August 24 to see our show! It will be great to know people in the audience! I'm excited to see them on Monday night!

Well, that's all for me! Time to go to bed :) Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Total Exhaustion

... feet?

Yeah. Talk about a workout.

With a heavy backpack on my back, a large trail tool in one hand and a radio device in the other, I hiked and hiked and hiked. Stopping only to drink water and apply more sunscreen, the hike took almost an hour in the blazing sun. There were times when I felt like I had reached the point of total exhaustion but my father's voice saying "Ironwoman" kept echoing in my head, pushing me forward.

And my ...

What a view! We made it to Durango, CO!

... 6+ bus ride ahead of us but it was anything but boring. Wow. What a view! The drive from Aspen, CO to Durango CO is absolutely breathtaking! We drove up one side of a mountain and down another. I never got bored staring out the window. The colors were exquisite: tan and brown mountain sides splashed with burgendy and dotted with evergreen trees. A bright blue sky speckled with clouds provided the perfect backdrop for the majestic ...

Navajo Lake

... br>The day was spectacular! Blue skies, mild temperature, cool water and miles of canyon walls. Other than an osprey, we didn't see much wildlife. The day was spent drifting, tubing, cliff jumping and, generally, hanging out.

This is a must do during the summer. But next time, we may camp on the New Mexico side as they have a larger marina and a nicer campground.

Black Canyon/Durango

... they were wondering how we ever found their place. Kevin and Steve,.owner, talked fishing. Steve new all the best spots to fish. We will be back here again. They have been owners for the last year and still working on renovations. We found the cabins very cozy and rustic. The views are outstanding! We headed on down the highway over several unnamed passes enjoying beautiful mountain scenery. We arrived at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National ...

Back home

Hey everyone. I'm back home and I can't tell you how wonderful it is! It is so great to see my family, the snow, sleep in my own bed, not have to constantly worry about stepping on a snake or scorpion . . . Thank you all so much for reading about my adventures, I hope that you enjoyed it.

The Ancient Ones

... meaning "The Ancient Ones." But apparently the term Anasazi is not politically correct anymore, so we are supposed to refer to the cliff dwellers as "Ancestral Pueblo Peoples." After grabbing dinner at a Brew Pub in Durango, we drove north on Highway 550 to a campground up in the mountains near Lake Haviland.

How is it guys ? I would like to apologise to you for the poor state of my blog. I only opened it about 4 months ago, when I was in Costa Rica. It is the first time I spend so much time on a computer. I don't really use to it! Let me introduce myself quickly. I have been travelling for 15 years; I started when I was 16 years old. At that time I was only travelling for a couple of months before ...
