After a wonderful weekend we said a sad farewell this morning to Greg and Tara as they headed off to Perth and then onwards to Sydney. We consumed a lot of local wine and beer over the weekend and had a lot of laughs and fun. Today we had a very relaxed rest day to recover.

It is not our usual practice to celebrate 'events' such as wedding anniversaries or birthdays, we don't really like Christmas; Easter; Valentine's Day...anything with commercialism and hype. However we can make an exception when we have we decided on lunch at beautiful Bunker Bay and Allan was the excuse.

... orchard of avocado trees laden with plump avos. I had a déjà vue on arrival and it turned out to be the same fruit farm that grew the kiwi fruit that the kids and I picked in '95. They were like rocks and didn't ripen till we got to Broome! The farm has come in leaps and bounds since then. From here we headed south to Augusta and the most southwesterly point at Cape Leeuwin and its tall lighthouse. We continued east through Karri forests ...

Saw the eagle rays at Hamelin Bay but it was a bit choppy for snorkeling. I did manage a swim in the ocean but away from the rays. I'm not sure how I would feel if one of them touched me in the water.

The Margaret River surf pro was in full swing for our visit. We spent a morning admiring the waves and the buff surfers; well I was admiring the surfers, not so sure about ...
