We left Helena on Thursday and stopped on the Recreation Road along Prickly Pear Creek in Wolf Creek Canyon for the night. We camped at an old favorite spot near the turn-off to Lyon's Creek. Our site, number one, was right near the creek and quiet. We rarely heard any traffic noise from I-15. The road near the rig had little traffic also. We could hear the flow of the Creek as we slept. What a great place!

As dusk fell, the golden sunlight rendered the whole landscape a magical breathtaking glow. ... on the hill top, and deer seemed to be everywhere. I continued to bump along the rocky, dirt road in search of my bison. All I saw were more deer. Eventually I came to a large herd of buffalo, but they were not very close either. I sat watching them in the distance, then continued onward.
