    ... was a series of timber lined vaults. The altar, various chapels, the floor and staircase to the bell tower, were also built/carved from wood. Magnificent. Read that the architect, William C Harris, designed the ceiling to provide excellent accoustics. This proved most beneficial in the church's survival.     ... We notice that everything here on the Island is very orderly - lawns always mowed, houses neat and tidy - even the boats are lined up end-to-end in the small harbors.

    We visited the Green Gables Heritage Place in Cavendish, touring the house that was the author's inspiration for the setting of the classic tale of fiction, "Anne of Green Gables." (Thought of you, Katie....)

    Having cooed over the size of Canadian kitchens, it was great to get up each morning and have breakfast in one. We’d already got ridiculously over excited in several supermarkets now it was great to have the chance to buy some stuff from one and go and cook it .     ... last couple of days as the weather is pretty yuk, and our Suzi bike is not well. Doesn't want to go. Good chance for us to catch up on some reading, and of course the Travel blog. Hope you are all enjoying it. We love sharing our adventure with you.
    Leaving here tomorrow, heading towards Quebec. About 17 more days until we head back into the U.S. and down the coast to Florida, where it is hopefully much warmer..
