... other than from the coach that took us on our tour. As we left Vigo heading north along a motorway, I realized how green everywhere was compared to when we went to Rojales and the South East of Spain last year. It reminded us both of the Lake District in Cumbria.
Vigo, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands mickinwhitbyToday I´m headed for Vigo on the Northwest coast. Madrid has been good although tiring. It rained yesterday so I spent the afternoon at the Prado Museum. After that I walked forever, took a few pictures and ate some ice cream. If you´re ever in Madrid I recomend the Museo del Jamon, ham and cheese sandwich + beer = 2euros.

Crew Schedules and Hours
We had a crew change today. It occurs almost every other Friday, where two crew go home for a month and two other crew arrive.
Most large yachts operate seasonally for their owners or are available for charter. In both these situations, there are periods of time when the crew can return home to visit their families. Since we live aboard our yacht all year long, the crew doesn't have the ...
Today our port of call was Vigo, Spain. It is in the Galicia region (northwest) and it is quite beautiful. It rains there a lot, but we had a beautiful sunny day. We had hired a guide to show us the area. The highlight of the day for me was going to a castle. It was amazing… both the building and the ...
... at first we had made a huge mistake crossing the border from France. The weather had been awful that day and when which didn't help as the driving vibe changed instantly. The Spanish seem to have a far more 'I'm going for it' attitude to driving than the French, they seem a lot more impatient and it was hard to adjust at first. The first place listed in our free camping guide seemed nice in the book, a quite car park virtually on the beech, but it wasn't that ...
Bueu, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands piholland... is where people from Spain travel to buy towels (not sure why but they did have lots of towels for sale) and Em & Eric did get a set just to follow the tradition. Tui was a much nicer place and the cathedral was lovely. On the way home we stopped in Baiona an old port city with a cool old fort. We took the walk along the top of the walls (a 3 km walk).

Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands amidlifecrisis... that was part of the deal about going to the albergue) and the time meant that we had missed the pilgrims' mass we decided to search out the camping option. By that time we were both pretty fed up and hungry as we'd had no breakfast, not even a cup of coffee. We bought lunch, ate it then fell asleep. Didn't mean to fall asleep but it was so cold (everything's relative, it was probably 16 degrees) we'd got into the tent to warm up, next thing we knew it was 2.30. Talking of ...
Pontevedra, Galicia, Spain and Canary Islands 50oddThe first day I was back, I got a chance to have a meal with Pedro and his family. At first with the meal, I thought, oh wow, that's not much food, but it was really good. We started with pimientos caseros and I never liked peppers before, but wow they were good. Oh and the sardines and clams, good ol' Vigo has a seafood landscape worth taking in. But then we went on to a soup and ham and melon. And finally we had a citrus chicken dish and even carne asada. Can't forget flan ...
Vigo, Spain and Canary Islands bsuarez... gorgeous little hidden church (since everyone discussed the changes in times for the bus from the hotel when we all hung out in the hotel bar... EXCEPT IN DEUTCH!) So, I thought we still had a later pick up time... then noone worried because... it's Ben... he's probably driving to help fit people. One guy I hadn't met yet said to Steven, the groom, "your brother.. he isn't here". Even those that hadn't met me yet knew of me as "El hermano Americano"..the American ...
