More of PEI in the rain

A travel blog entry by kkgreen on Aug 15, 2014

Headed out in the rain at 10:30 after a light breakfast, heading east this time. Our first stop was in Cavendish where it is quite commercialized. There are lots of campgrounds, amusement parks, the Avonlea tourist attraction and of course, shops! Shops were busy because all the campers didn't have anything else to do, but shop. At least Debbie finished her souvenir shopping, she was very happy. As we headed towards the National ...

    Discovering PEI

Today was a sleep in (at least for me) and big breakfast day. I've been carrying around a ripened banana for more pancakes and finally we got to make them, along with bacon, eggs, and toast. By the time that was all eaten and cleaned up it was almost 11. The day was starting to clear up, the forecast was 30% rain, but it was clearing rather than getting cloudy. Interestingly when we were traveling on the interior roads ...

We went to see the play Anne of Green Gables. It is a humorous and touching musical depicting the early life of Anne Shirley, a young very spirited orphan girl who gets adopted to a home in the town of Avonlea. There are many stories of Anne of Green Gables and they were written by a lady who grew up on PEI and there was a series filmed nearby. The play was very enjoyable, much more than I expected. We spent most of the day exploring the island and enjoying the ...

... more light-hearted than the storyline I was following.

Whilst the ferry left on time there must have been some icebergs diverting us, as it arrived nearly half-an-hour late, but luckily Jessy hadn’t given up and driven home as I was greeted by a familiar face and a boot to force my bags into. An hour driving to Jessy’s house from the ferry enabled me to relay a quick rundown of my trip so far, paying particular attention to the ...
