We woke up at about 7:30 this morning and packed up our things and got checked out.
We walked up the street about half an hour to the Alamo car hire place.
We got our little car, a Chevrolet Cruze, and Darren jumped in the drivers seat to start the day.
After readjusting to driving on the wrong (right) side, we drove over to Sarah and Craig's house, which turned out to be right behind the ukelele shop!
When we found the right place we were welcomed in ...

Spent two more days enjoying California's Central Coast -- bright sun, nice breeze, and beautiful ocean. Yesterday we drove up the famous Hwy. 1 to San Simeon to see the Hearst Castle -- words can't describe the opulence, the beauty, and the over-the-top everything. It was unfortunate that repairs were being made to the roof and scaffolding was around all of the main house. The Castle consists of 165 rooms that include 115 rooms ...

Our drive north yesterday was beautiful -- the Pacific Ocean on our left side and mountains on our right. It was a hard morning, though -- hard to decide whether to look at the ocean or the mountains because both were so spectacular. Dan and I have got it figured out -- he does the driving and I do the looking! After the road took us away from the ocean a few miles we came upon vineyards -- gazillions of grape vines. ...

We were woken up this morning by a park ranger telling us we were parked in the day camper only section, but he was really nice about it. We had bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches for breakfast then Dave headed down the steep bank to go fishing. We forgot about having steak and eggs for breakfast so we'll probably do that tomorrow. I relaxed and took my time cleaning up camp. While I was getting things together I heard Dave’s voice across the lake ...

Today, like yesterday, has been a great day. We woke up this morning at sunrise and the wind was calm. It was still a bit chilly. I made my way to the bathroom, which was really a brick sheltered portajohn. The door was locked and I almost thought that perhaps the camp rangers had left it locked, then a guy walked out and immediately said, "Sorry." You know if a guy went to use the portajohn out in the middle of nowhere, it wasn't number one. Good morning! Hahaha. Anyway, we ...
