    ... we almost had to divert to Lisbon because of fuel concerns. We were happy to finally be on the ground in the right place!

    Pelle had arranged for a driver to meet us for the hour long trip north to Santa Cruz....and so we arrived at our hotel after midnight. Tired and happy we hoped the next day would offer less excitement and more fun!

    Today was our final biking so it started early at 8am. The tour of the ocean and banana plantations was amazing. This island continues to try and make a profit thru bananas but the competition is tough. The route was 11.5 miles with winding, rolling roads all along the sea.
