... an immense range of dinosaurs from a Gigantosaur (Argentinas biggest carnivore haha) to a Pterosaur with a 4m wingspan.
Our second destination is the small town of Plaza Huincul, 2 hours away by bus. the museum here contains a replica skeleton of an Argentinosaurus, the largest dinosaur discovered. (What is surprising is discovering that Argentina was once home to herbivores!)
Our third destination is Villa El Chocon, 2 ...
... though as it was safety glass
the pieces were still holding together in a sheet. About 30cm behind
my head there was a hole in the glass. On the other side of the bus a
girl was screaming because the window next to her had smashed too.
The bus conductor came up to check that everyone was OK and he
swept up some of the glass with a shovel and brush. We heard him say
something about how this happened all the time. The bus continued to
the next ...

... ended up being most of the day. Unfortunately also at Villa El Chocon I was hoping to see some dinosaur tracks that had been discovered by the lake shore, but the lake is part of a hydroelectric damn and there had been recent rain fall so the tracks were under water at the time I was there. They are about 2Km from the town so would have been a bit of a walk but do-able. They must be fairly large as, apparently locals used to use ...
Neuquen, Patagonia, Argentina travelhobI decided to make a stop for a few days to have a look at some locally found Dinosaur remains. Apparently this area of Argentina has a very good climate for preserving many fossils and dinosaur remains which have been uncovered and boast TWO of the largest dinosaurs found to date. On the way from Bariloche to Neuquen the bus broke down, the first of my trip so not bad going really, about an hour and a half from Neuquen. Luckily a ...
Neuquen, Argentina gordon13well, after that ****** bus ride, we were exhausted when we got into neuquén. we asked about camping, took the bus out of town, and walked back a gravel road. after calling for someone, a woman in a nearby house came out and told us that she didn´t think there was camping there anymore, but we could wait and ask the people in charge. while we waited i took a nap on a picnic table. the owner showed up so we asked him if we could camp. he was ...
Neuquen, Argentina ruizespiecesPhotos: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=3 9458&l=7d69f& id=551865803 Sat 9 Feb The drive to Neuquen was about 6 hours and our little Fiat Uno was overtaken a lot as when Paul hit 110kph it started to shake! The speed limits here are completely ignored as they are stupid. At one point we were on a main highway when we saw a 20kph sign, there was no reason for it (no turn off, or bend in road) so everybody ignored it ...
Neuquen, Argentina paul_lucyHome was home. The same blistering heat, the same fun with the dogs, but this time the only real thing that had changed in Hostel Lao was the huge hole in the pool making things a little harder to cool down. A wine tour later, and another of Mike´s famous ¨asaditos¨, it was off to Neuquen. This time leaving home, for the home my old man called for several years, and probably still does. The trip to Neuquen was the worst I´ve had on a bus so far in ...
Neuquen, Argentina elmatadorWednesday January 9th, a miserable day in Neuquén After another non-breakfast we went to get the minibus to the bus station. After 15 minutes a kind man asked where we were going and said we were actually at the wrong bus stop. At the right one a friendly Guaraní woman from Paraguay, who worked at the bus terminal, said she had been waiting for a bus for 20 minutes. Half an hour later, bus-less, we set off to walk or find a cab, no bus in sight. Alas, contrary to what we ...
