Day 9: Florence
Today was a full walking day around Florence. The crowds here are worse than they've been anywhere so far, but it may be because it was a beautiful Sunday and it's a small city, so it feels more cramped. We started off by walking to the Duomo, which is the domed focal point of the city, with a tower, cathedral and baptistery. Day Two in Tuscany
... with the Consul General, Sarah Morrison. The Consul is guarded by Italian soldiers ( maybe Marines) . There was a security check and we had to turn in our passports. But a lovely lunch and Ms. Morrison is a delightful lady! The Consulate is in the Palazzo Canevaro. The American government bought it in 1947 and it has been the Consulate ever since.
