Bye bye Boracay ay ay ay ay

A travel blog entry by matt-lewis on Apr 29, 2015

On Tuesday, I needed a break from the sun. After a bit of lazing about, I strolled down to get a midday massage, followed by a huge fish dish for two, to myself. Later, I went for a dive at Crocodile Island, with Danish Nick from Watercolours. A couple of early evening beers on the beach, dinner at The Treehouse (literally), and propping up the bar at Red Pirates with French Julian, ...

I’m on the orthopaedics ward for my
final 2 weeks, the only way I can describe it to you is that it looks like an
underground car park with old hospital beds and overcrowded with patients. The heat
is unbearable, there is no air con and if I’m honest I’m sure the reason
everyone looks so drained and ill is because there is no escape from it. They
share one fan between about 3 beds and even then all they really do is push
    around the hot ...

Second week carried on pretty much
the same as 1st week. I went in at 8 every morning to the animal
bites clinic, although in my second week there I was given the majority of the
case load. I was doing around 40-60 injections a day, because it gets so busy
the nurse I was working with sat and did all the paperwork whilst I did all the
injections which meant we got through the case load much quicker. The questions
about home and the amount ...

    ... which again was a
massive eye opener and something I am nearly always left in two minds about.
The weekend however was spent in Boracay, an island that’s a short 10 minute
boat ride away from the northern tip of Panay island, a five hour drive away
for us and well known for its nightlife and white sandy beaches.

I’m really glad we went as apparently if you come to the
    Philippines it’s a must do. Honestly though, I wouldn’t ...

... belfry heading out at 11.

It started to do my head in that we kept going back to bamboo bar on our first point of call. We should of mixed it up a bit. It was like a routine. We still had a good time here but I wanted to try my bars out.

Bamboo was rammed so we took our drinks to the beach. Two Filipino guys sat down next to us who were a bit shifty. One of them kept touching my arm, I kept telling him not to touch me. I also kept feeling my pockets to see if I had ...
