    Icefields Parkway

... Icefields - we saw a bit, but it was far too wet and cold to even walk to the edge. Peyto lake, which is a must see was abandoned. So we reached Lake Louise about 5 hours ahead of schedule. There may well have been wildlife on the road, but the speed we rattled through prohibited seeing anything! The speed limits are set in case wildlife wanders on to the road, in most cases Jon doubled the limit. If we had hit anything we would be dead. ...

... sailing backwards and forwards from Swartz bay too Tsawassen a voyage that takes about 1 1/2 hours. Lindee saw a tail of a whale , however it was fleeting and I disputed the sighting however in the very next moment the captain also announced the sighting. No more sightings of wildlife for the rest of the voyage. The bus took right into the centre of the city and we had to negotiate our through the city to Hotel. We settled into our hotel and took a walk down to Stanley ...

The initial part on the road was a bit hairy as we are still mastering the fact they all drive on the other side of the road, but we were then on bike paths or shared roads and some of it was on beautiful shady gravel areas through canopies of trees and lovely landscapes. We saw many cyclists and runners and many of you would have loved to run or ...

... variety of reasons, but the seals still hang around.

Then home for a game of street hockey. Our kids were keen to have a family competition – Lindens v McStravicks – I don’t think they expected the snazzy skills that the Canadians pulled out but we didn’t do too badly, though we certainly didn’t win! Matt and Mase got so into the game that somehow Mase’s stick collided with Matt’s left eye ...

    Day 13 Canada

... Island and the capital Victoria (the provincial capital of British Columbia is Victoria and this city happens to be on Vancouver Island. While, Vancouver, the city, is on the mainland. I know, I know, confusing as hell). This massive car, truck and coach ferry ship landed in Nanaimo Bay and we were surprised to see that the city of Victoria was a fair drive from this Nanaimo. We'd imagined that the ferry would dock at Victoria - we thought ...
