You just can't beat coming home to your own cottage after a long day hiking in the hills. Sitting on your private deck, sipping wine while you dinner sizzles on the grill. Did I mention the awesome shower?? Truly a pleasureable way to spend the week and the hosts were as welcoming as could be!

We had to walk through the first part of the caves, then sit on a punt in complete darkness so we could see the glow worms. They were like stars. Today we have driven across to Dunedin. Stopping for a walk at Dolamore Park, and tea and cake outside Clinton. Now I have to decide whether I'm well enough to go horse riding at ...

... at 11:30 with a dense fog blanketing the surrounding landscape. All that was visible was the view over the edge of the cliff. Looking over the edge gave onlookers vertigo as the ledge dropped steeply to a flat located a thousand meters below. You could follow the trail of the clouds as they were sucked over the edge and into the abyss. We waited and waited for the clouds to lift, hoping to get a decent view. Then, as if the heavens opened up, our wishes ...

A very interesting man and he shared stories with us over a glass of wine!! YES we had wine with dinner, that Jordan volunteered to carry in with his backpack. Russell and I would not have carried the extra weight and survived.

After a quick pitstop for gas in Te Anau, we started our journey on the road to Milford. Traffic was extremely light, and we made good time. The road was sealed, twisting and turning through flat land rising to hilly land before we realized that extremely large, ...

... despite the fact that we were in the middle of the bush, as the New Zealanders call the forest. Back onto the trail after lunch and more forest until we arrived near to the end of the peninsular where the forest opened out and we walked down to the rocks at Long Reef Point to see a colony of fur seals. While we were walking down the path to the rocks the group leader suddenly stopped and caught hold of a tail of black fur. The tail looked like the tail of a ...
