Before 1947 Bar Harbor was the place to be for the American jetset, the Rockefellers, Vanderbilts, Carnegies, Morgans and Astors all had huge mansions build here. But after a fire which destroyed 17.000 acres and almost complete Bar Harbor in 1947, most people never returned but still the village survived and became a well known touristic attraction for 2 million people every year, from all over the world.

... steakhouse. The restaurant building was once a garden keeper residence for one of the mansions on the island. It was very appealing from the inside and out. The wonderful aroma of garlic and grilled steak welcomed us at the door and we knew we were in the right place. Everything was wonderful, but I will always remember the crab dip appetizer.
