... Z każdej strony widać z murów okoliczne wzgórza i łąki. Na zakończenie spaceru zjadłyśmy pyszne lody. Restauracja ze słynnym spaghetti była niestety czynna dopiero później, więc wróciłyśmy na kolację do domu. Zamiast spaghetti, było ravioli ;)

... previously I think they were all pretty on top of riding as a group, keeping an eye on the person behind etc etc. We exited San Gimignano through cobblestone lane ways and the crowds of people at the markets. The landscape reminded me of the Loire with lots of vineyards. We were confronted with our first uphill to the morning stop. ... and door wide open and the workman were still at work. It was 6pm. I was so relieved that we had gone ahead and booked somewhere else. The place stank like a sewer and we wouldn’t have been able to stay and make dinner. It was all a little crazy really. Tatiana understood, a little too easily so maybe this had happened before. We were all packed in about 20 mins and back in the car to our new place. I could breathe again.

On our way from Florence to Siena we decided to call in at San Gimignano for a look see. It is a village in the Tuscan countryside built on a small Etruscan settlement dating back to the Hellenistic period. (Third to Second century B.C.) In 1199 the town rid itself from the Feudal ties to the Bishop of Volterra. In 1348 it suffered terribly from the plague and subsequently submitted to the rule of Florence in 1353.
