Along with the cultural aspect of Ubud there is a real good food vibe, lots of cookery schools and lots of very good restaurants compared to Kuta, and the Gilis. Me and Helen gorged on roast lamb shank, and pork chops tired of the local cheap food Nasi Goreng, which is flavored rice with on some chicken and then some prawn crackers, depending on the area there is an egg thrown on top.
