... They are really quite pretty it's a shame the tour didn't arrive at the time the music and light show took place as I would have loved to see it! Finally just after midnight I boarded my flight from Singapore to Sydney. The flight wasn't good turbulence meant no hot drinks, a baby cried the whole 8 hour flight and I was sat next to a guy who suffered from claustrophobia and sweated profusely the whole flight and kept getting up all the time. I don't sleep well on planes ...
... So with a belly full of pasta, avacado and yogurberry and a excitement for Christmas with the McGilverys and a Cool Summer planned in Sydney it was back off to Darwin to head down to the west coast to Perth. I now know what the Ozzies and Kiwis think of the english when we say, "No I have not been to Europe", on your own doorstep you take for granted. That will be changed when I have saved up cash next year at home, too much of Europe to be conqured on weekend trips.
The joys of travel, or is travelling is a drag? - Standing in lines, going through security, waiting, the actual cramped flight back etc, etc, etc.... We arrived in Sydney 1 hour early, but this was lost due to no plane spots available at the ramp/air bridge. The jet engines had to be shut down & we had to wait in the aircraft on the taxiway ...
... pretty sure I would rather be the guy from 127 hours than come face to face with a snake.
After leaving the zoo and eventually making our way back to Andy's apartment in Bondi Junction, we both felt as if we had been gone for weeks. Exhausted and hungry, we walked to the market (Cole's) to do some grocery shopping for the next few days.
Fed, unpacked, and settled - time for bed.
... bad as you had to bend double to move about, it's a wonder they didn't all have permanent bad backs, or perhaps they did. We then did a quick tour round the Shackleton exhibition. A very interesting couple of hours all together.
Finished off our day by watching the firework display from our room. A nice finish to our visit to Sydney. Early to bed as our flight to Cairns is at 6am.
