Rain, rain, rain

... An opportunity to shower and camp on a clifftop campsite; the rain continued... We had a trip into the local town of St Vincent de la Barquera, where we bought fresh fish, having asked 5 people (Annabelle's Spanish delivery of asking for a fish shop took us to a fishing tackle shop...)

Renwed Love for Spain

... in the hotel room reading while I went to Mass…..or so I thought. With so many churches you’d think one would have Mass at 10am. It was not to be. I spent some time in the basilica (photo attached). I really like it. It’s pretty bare inside and looks very medieval. The lingering odor of incense and the choir practicing in some hidden room made for a very meditative time.

We left the hotel by 11 and ...

... grotto. Nothing like a statute of the BVM with water coming out of the mountain to draw us Catholics out from every nook and cranny. The herd of goats that usually blocks Paul's entry into churches was nowhere to be found here.....so maybe it's a good sign. Don't send a Catholic jihad after me, now, just making light of a fun time!

... to deliver Conrad's special delivery of two packages of Datil Daddy's beef jerky from home. Through perseverence with the security guard who didn't speak any English, Conrad understood that the mayor was out meeting a trade deligation from Angola but that her secretary would be there shortly.

We ate lunch on a bench outside while waiting. And then, an angel appeared, or more precisely ...

Day 4 - Mountains of Asturias

In the afternoon we went up to the mountains of Asturias, just south of Luarca we found a tiny road leading up. Wonderful scenery and scary roads lead us finally to the tiny town of San Pedro de Paredes where we had a meal consisting of jamon and bacon.

Santander

hello there! We stopped of in Santander for 10 days to catch up with some friends and had a great time. We met up with Elissa, Carlas Spanish friend and got drunk with all her buddies. They cooked for us alot and showed us around the city. Santander is a uni town so Aussies are plentiful. We caught up with Doogle and Candy who we met in Prague and Jimmy from Warnambool.

Hola amigos!

Bilbao, Spain Hola! Como estas? Spain...well, we only had a day in Spain also, so we made use of it as best as possible. I'm not sure if you have heard of the Guggenheim Museum which is quite famous (I hadn't!), but anyway it was gorgeous, and spent a very large chunk of my day there. It was architecturally amazing, and the displays were really interesting also. There was a special Russian ...
