    20th May - We arrive in Khao Sok after a bearable 3 hour journey. We really wanted to stay in a tree house but they are triple the price of a jungle hut. The huts are really nice, even if they don't have the air conditioning and pool that we have become accustomed to! Straight away we book our lake tour of the national park, where you stay in floating bungalows and do jungle treks during the day. It's is quite expensive at 2500 baht each (£50), but it includes all of ...

    ... Camp at Ban Thung Jadee school in Phang Nga. It was over an hour’s drive away and so thankfully we weren’t using Kobin’s taxi. We travelled in an air conditioned minibus - such luxury! The children were from four different local schools and were aged between 9 and 11. They had already been kitted out in English Camp T-shirts and were being entertained by two young lads, one American and one German, who were working as English ...

    ... tidying files. The end of term was fast approaching. Tablamu school had finished already and so there would be no more long Wednesdays for us but as far as we were aware we would still be teaching on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Lesson preparation did not take very long as we only had to prepare three instead of four subjects and I had time to return home for a quick coffee before we set off at midday for Koh Nok school.

    Cruise day on the beach Few gin and tonics with mich ash and Lisa and then ...what an elephant on the beach !! Bride going to her wedding on an elephant ...grab our drinks and head to the beach ...she's already there but so is the elephant ...very cool So we go to this bar which was once a resort before the tsunami ...and its a derelict place ...but strange ...

    ... for the umpteenth time today, muttering “Jesus!” through gritted teeth and the pair of us made our escape, Russell to the beach and me to the pool back at Phu Khao Lak.

    Just as I was beginning to unwind one of the Phu Khao Lak motorbike and side cars passed ferrying someone to see one of the bungalows. I did a double take. It was Uli. Please, no!
