      ... Thailand. It's not known for the mantas but for the whale sharks which some times comes here. Up to now the dive instructor saw it 8 times this season. It is a nice dive spot as it looks like we are swimming in a real life aquarium. We saw for example 2 types of sea horses, pipe fishes, harlequin shrimps which eating sea star legs, 2 broadclub cutter fish, swimming lion fishes, swam of yellow snappers, banded boxer shrimps, swarms ...

      ... see that there was clearly an event on and that there would be no teaching today. It was a scouting day and the children from seven local schools had gathered for a day of activities. The children and teachers alike were dressed in scout uniform and there was a small team of very officious scout leaders organising events.       ... then got a taxi over to the market a little later.

      I noticed that the usual band of young musicians was absent this week. They had always seemed to be drawing the crowds and collecting a lot of money. This clearly hadn't escaped the notice of our orphanage as this week they had brought along their own little band. Ian and Barbara later confirmed that this had raised a lot more money that the sale of the cakes and other produce.

The authorities had torn down the premises she had run for years on Bang Niang Beach and she had had to start afresh in new premises on the beach road.
