... 15: Our flight wasn't until 9 p.m. or so. We checked out and went back up into the Waimea canyon to enjoy the lovely views before heading back to the Koloa Rum company to pick up a few more bottles of rum to share with the family and did a lot of window shopping before heading back to the airport to spend the next 24 hours on multiple planes to get back to Colorado.

All in all, a wonderful trip and a great way to celebrate our 5 years of marriage!

Ke'e beach is about a 15 minute drive from the hotel. It is also the trail head for Kalalau trail. It is a 2 mile hike to Hanakapi'ai beach. Truth be told we should have stopped here. However we went another 2 miles to Hanakapi'ai falls. It was a very strenuous hike for the second two miles. Most of the trail is rocks. There are also multiple streams to cross...balancing from one rock to another. We kept going ...

The first week in Hawaii has been filled with Christmas cheer, family, food, swimming and sun. We had two nights in Honolulu, spending our time exploring Waikiki beach and all the ABC stores. From here, we flew to Kaua'i (only just making the flight ...

... to them to get your parking pass. I didn't even sit down and Jeff told them we just wanted to go take a nap (they thought we had flown in from Colorado) so, timeshare rigamarole averted.
The condo is very nice and if you stand in a certain spot and look diagonally you can see the ocean. LOLWe get unpacked and head out for groceries - the usual, except we did not buy any fruit or flowers thinking we ...

... today.

We drove to the end of the road to Ke'e Beach at the beginning of the Hanakapi'ai Trail.

Next we worked our way back to Tunnels Beach for the afternoon.

Back to HBR for quiet time and grilling chicken for dinner. Ray and Robbie were off to the Kaulea Lighthouse to see the sunset while the kids relaxed by the pool.
