... a familiar face greeting me. Debbie and Liam Michelsen had flown to Kauai a couple of days earlier from LA, and Debbie knew I was arriving. Before I reached the hostel in Kapa'a (Kauai), I did not even know the Kalalau Trail exists - even though it is so famous and many non-beach visitors to Kauai only come for this trail. My guide book for Hawaii is really ******. Anyways, that is what hostels are good for...getting to know people who tell you about wonderful places.
