      One a trip organized by the Mount Holyoke Outing club, I climbed my first hike ever! Day one we climbed Owls peak, approximately a 4 hours hike. Day 2, we climbed Mt. Phelps (the 36th/46th highest peaks in the Adirondacks) took almost 8-9 hours. It was certainly worth the view at the top, more so at Owls Peak due to the foliage. Although, Mount Phelps truly felt like an accomplishment with it being such an excruciating and long hike. ...

      ... of rain looming overhead. It was a bit depressing. Experiencing this kind of gloomy weather really makes one appreciate when the sun comes out.

      Now, imagine you are at the bottom of the hill/mountain you want to hike. Find the gully or ditch. This is how water travels from the top of the mountain to the bottom. That's the trail! Just go up that wet, steep incline with huge boulders and mud. Talk about a slog up that mountain. It was HUMID.
