    Back at Kalte Kuchl the place is heaving with local bikers out to enjoy the late evening sunshine.

    ... We see the magnificent castle up on the hill overlooking the city but no time for that. We don't do cities.



    As we are continuing on the autobahn south into Austria we have to buy vignettes for the bikes. In Austria it costs €4.90 for 10 days, so that's OK. Later in the trip we will enter Switzerland, but be careful to avoid the toll roads. There a vignette is for one year and costs around 40. That's a lot ...

    ... only took cash so have no credit card details for auto top-up. They can always send us a bill!!

    Proceeded into Austria. We had read about the Unesco listed Semmeringbahn Railway, completed in 1854, which enables the train from Vienna to reach Trieste in Italy in 13 hours, travelling through the mountains, climbing 457 metres with 16 viaducts, 15 tunnels and over 100 bridges - what an achievement for that era!

    ... we had a friend there who we were going to see! Ate at a really nice Thai restaurant for lunch and then wet to watch 12 Years A Slave at an English cinema! Met up with Ross (Philipp) and had a really nice day with him! Just before we left for Graz, I had opened my window out onto the balcony, I turned around and a cat had appeared in my room! Naturally I was very excited about this and ended up sitting with it on my lap for about an hour!! So ...
