      ... we passed through. I learnt lots ! But of course have now forgotten lots! We arrived in Greymouth and my previous recollections of it being lack lustre were endorsed. It being Saturday pm the shops were mostly closed, the streets deserted and the only thing of note was the intricate mural which depicted some of the significant events in the area. We enjoyed a drink in the pub, watched the world go by and awaited the time to board again for our return journey. ...

      ... We arrived in Christchurch at 15:30 ish where we checked into our hostel and got sorted. Simon has got us some maps from reception so we could go out and have a look around.       ... we have seen lots of what he calls sheds in people’s gardens and now we were staying in one. The owners are from Bradwell in Derbyshire, small world. They recommended the local pub for a meal (Duvauchelle Hotel), this was good advice as we had the best value meal we have had since we came to New Zealand.
