      ... of the rapid was leaving me flying on the high side! Christchurch - I was pleasantly surprised here. This city is recovering from a large earthquake in Feb 2011. From the short time we had there, I feel I found a community that were vibrantly united in bringing restoration to a beautiful city that they clearly adore.       ... ages. Aided by Sophie's awesome astronomy app we were able to identify a series of stars and planets (I think Neptune was one!). I was even lucky to catch a shooting star. We really were lucky that it was a crystal clear night.       ... arrived well after 10pm and by the time the we got through customs, that added a further 20mins. We'll be picking up the motorhome in the morning which happens to be just a short stroll down the road so no need to worry about a taxi. Which is a relief as it cost us $26 to take a 5 min ride.

      We had the usual stressful journey to the airport from home. Donna got the boys out of school early and picked me up at about 2.30pm ...

      ... to the nearest holiday park with powered sites, or the 'free-camping’ area just next to the Mt. Cook visitor centre.  We opted for the latter, which was lovely for the views in the morning, but without electricity and with temperatures that night near freezing, we were VERY cold!  The Maori name for Mt.
