... late October. Tomorrow, we head to San Gimignano in the heart of Tuscany. Only an hour south of Florence, we will be spending the next week there as a base to explore the region and its bounty. Weather is predicted to be sunny and low 70s, we are truly blessed.

While Halloween is not celebrated here, for all those following us in the USA, Happy Halloween!

After a stormy night of rain, thunder and lightening, we woke to a clear morning and blues skies. We decided today would be a good day to explore the peninsula/island that is Monte Argentario. We left our cliff hovel about 10:00 and drove to the state park and beach which runs from the
Italian mainland to the peninsula. The beach runs about four miles from Porto Ercole (Hercules in Italian) to the ...

Day 57 - Tuscan Coast Cabin

A travel blog entry by hopptwo on Oct 28, 2015

The day was mostly rainy from Amalfi to Monte Argentario on the Western coast of Italy. The drive from Amalfi took about five and half hours with several stops along the way. We found our apartment (or as Kathy refers to it, cabin) for our next three nights on HomeAway. The cabin is really designed for summer weather with seperate kitchen dining area in one cabin and on a separate ...

In 1292 the rulers of Venice decreed that all glass blowing was to move to the island of Murano, as this was a way to protect the city from burning from fires in the glass workshops. The artists became virtual prisoners to their craft as the Venetians attempted to keep a monopoly on glass making and the blowers, under pain of death, were kept permanently on the island. However, aided by ...

Looking around for the non-existent " No Parking " fine proved fruitless. Apparently , it works in reverse , you can only park somewhere that has a "parking" sign. Gotta love Italian logic !!!!!

So for the price of the parking fine , we could have gone to the very fancy spa after all !!!!
Alora , it's all part of the journey ........

Ciao for now ..... Princepessa Rosalinda and Emporer Fabio
