Maratea - A hilltop town with a difference

Our hotel was right in the centre of town, literally with an entrance way into the main piazza, so we couldn't complain about the location! They also spoke very little English at reception, so I ended up speaking Italian all the time and happily was able to communicate with them asking lots ...

We saw pamphlets of this place at Taormina and one of the chicks there had just been and said it was the best place of her 4 month holiday and the pamphlet really sold it for us so we booked in expecting the best! A day of Leisure at Lake Maggiore

Outside, we had about an hours free time to have a look around the gardens. They were indeed 'bella'. We saw some white peacocks & one of them had chicks - so cute!!
There was a scenic vista point where you could get a good view of the lake and the gardens - I climbed up there. What was nice, there were boards with details of the history - so spent some time reading those. On ...
Lake Maggiore - via Lugano in Switzerland
Once again, sitting on the coach - en route to Lake Maggiore; our last stop on this lovely scenic holiday.
Today we head to the small swiss town of Lugano (north Switzerland) - some of our goup are taking a cable car up Monte Tamaro.
We arrive in Lugano shortly after 9.30am. Time for a 2 hour explore before getting the coach to our mountain excursion. Note, a lot of shops did not open until 11am!
