A travel blog entry by dmatten on Apr 01, 2014

... TV move called Marco Polo. Gabriele talked with the guard to find out more about it before we continued on our way. The church of Madonna was pretty but the ceilings weren't painted or even vaulted, they just had plain wooden beams. From the church we took a boat to the Arsenal, which we could only see from the outside, and then walked toward San Marco's square. We took another boat back toward our apartment, bought some food for dinner and then took it easy for the rest of the evening. ...

      Excursion to Murano

We were off to a family farmhouse where the husband (together with a very talented, funny pony with a perchance for white bread), showed us how the olives (including stones), ...

... minutes sleep in the rest of the 8 hours we had left on that train, and so it wasn't much surprise that when the other woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed to the announcement we were half an hour from Venice that I bore the haunting gaze of a killer in my eyes.

We got off the train, said our goodbyes to Simon and then I fell asleep in the street as Angus was buying a map of the city. We dropped our bags at the hostel and had a good look round Venice for ...

We're leaving on a boat today

... nothing about this until we arrive at the port at about 1pm!

There may not be much in blog updates over the next week - internet costs a small fortune on the boat and is not much better than dial up speed, and works not very well - so don't despair if nothing from us - we will be back on line in a week. And we will write a report once we arrive in Florence next Sunday or Monday after we get back.
