    ... an archway to the Piazza del Erbe (1301), once the Roman forum. A brass band all dressed up in traditional garb marched in to here and continued entertaining the crowd. At one end of the piazza is the della Scala palace also built in 1301 and capped with six statues of pagan gods. Lots of restaurants here and very busy.
