Day 10: Florence
We started the day with a major bummer: Bradley left for home bright and early, which makes me really sad. I miss him already and I'm jealous that he gets to see our pooch and smoosh his little Louie face. There are a ton of dogs in Europe, by the way, and people bring them everywhere with them. We have FaceTimed with Lou a couple times to make us (me) feel better... but I digress. Anyway, I miss my husband a lot. Today's drizzly, cold weather matched the gloominess of Bradley's ...
Certaldo and Greve in Chianti
Certaldo was one of the towns recommended from Tripadvisor. We parked our car in the the new town this was where most of the town people lived. We caught the cable car to the top and were surprised how deserted the place was. Then we realized it was 2.30pm, siesta time. Most of the restaurants in town had shut up shop and were not opening up again till the evening. We walked around the town enjoying the tranquility, unfortunately no gelati ...

We drank as much as we felt comfortable with knowing the drive ahead, and thanked our wonderful hosts for a memorable Tuscan early ...

Everybody can speak English here, and with that being said, the bartenders, the cashiers at the supermarket, strangers in the street even will just automatically speak to you in English. For ...
Here comes the sun!
... I missed some of the presentation (due to going outside to get air), but it was interesting how they cater to the queen, make the honey, etc. Then we drove to another extension of the farm where we had a fabulous lunch made for us of olives and artichoke hearts in olive oil, grilled veggies, spaghetti, and a fabulous desert of sort of like ambrosia salad on top of lady fingers. I also tasted grappa for the first time. The taste wasn't as bad as I expected ...
